Born: February 22nd 1981 in Ulvila. Lives in Pori, Finland.

Height: 200 cm, weight 130 kg.

Alinen played pesäpallo on the team UP-V as a boy. Played in the junior all star game at age 10. Also swam actively.

Alinen began American football at age 18 in 1999 in the Pori Bears. The Bears played in the first division, until advancing to the main league in 2002. He won national silver with the Turku Trojans in 2004. Was accepted into the Berlin Thunder team after tests, and won the World Bowl.

Alinen joined the NFL international players' development program in 2005, during which he trained with the Atlanta Falcons. He signed a two-year contract with the Falcons in January 2006. He is now fighting for a spot as second or third tight end in the training camp in July. If he makes the team, his annual salary will be at least 235 000 dollars.

Players have very distinct roles in American football. This is why you can get to the top even if you start late. Alinen's greatest advantages are his size and his diverse athletic background.

Alinen and Matti Lindholm (1987) were close to being accepted into the NFL by playing in Europe. Michael Quarshie is in the same situation with a more traditional college football background
